Text

  • The Text should pertain to reporting original research, new discoveries or new interpretations of known data. Lengthy introductions to already known information should be avoided. Review articles are also welcome.
  • The text should be in the Times New Roman with heading in 13 point bold, sub-headings in 12 point bold, sub-headings within a sub-heading must be 11 point bold-italics, and the main text in 11 point Normal.
  • All diacritical marks should be made clearly on the hard copy. If you are using diacritical marks that are different than those normally accepted, please specify their use. In any case, the usually accepted diacritical marks will be used in the printed version. In no circumstances, the editor will put the missing diacritical marks.
  • Full length research papers should not exceed two thousand five hundred (2500) words.
  • Short notes and books reviews should not exceed one thousand two hundred (1200) words.
  • The editor may at his discretion delete repeating descriptions.
  • The manuscript (including tables, footnotes and references) should be typed on A4 size paper with wide margins using only one side of paper.
  • The main article must have images and tables embedded in the text wherever they are to appear, however, all the images must also be submitted separately along with the softcopy of the article.
  • As far as possible, footnotes should be avoided. If at all they are necessary they should be numbered serially in the text at the end of the article.

References

  • The References must be typed after the footnotes or if there are no footnotes, after the main text.
  • All the references should be arranged alphabetically and chronologically.
  • In the text all references cited in support of your statements should be mentioned in parentheses with only after the surname of the author and the year of publication, e. g. (Goron 2001).
  • If you are quoting an author or referring to a specific point of another author, then the actual page number(s) should be mentioned. A colon should be used between the year and the page number, e. g. (Kulkarni 1999: 20).
  • If the author’s name already occurs in the text immediately before the citation, then only the year of the publication and page number should be mentioned in parentheses, e. g. Handa (2002: 32) is of the opinion that…
  • If the reference cited has two authors, the surnames of both the authors should be given as (Gupta and Hardaker 1985). If the reference has more than two authors only the surname of the first author followed by et al. (in italics) and the year of publication should be given like (Gupta et al. 1985). In the references the authors name should be written as:

             Gupta, P. L. and T. R. Hardaker (1985): …

             Gupta, P. L., Sanjay Garg and Amiteshwar Jha (1985): …

  • Reference of Articles in a Journal should be mentioned as:

              Gupta, P. L. (1977). A Double Gold Mohur of Ahmad Shah, Numismatic Digest, vol.                         I, part I, pp. 27-28.

  • Reference of an unpublished thesis be given as:

              Rajgor, Dilip (1994). Numismatic Chronology of Ancient Gujarat: From 6th Century                          BC to 2nd Century AD. Ph. D. Dissertation. Mumbai: University of Mumbai.

  • Reference of books be given as:

              Kulkarni, Prashant P. (2004). Ashvamedha: The Yajna and the Coins. Mumbai:                           Reesha Books International.

  • Reference of an article published in an edited volume be given as:

              Garg, Sanjay (1999). A Newly Discovered Mint of Aurangzeb, in S. M. Shukla                          Memorial Volume (K. K. Maheshwari and B. Rath Eds), pp. 221-224. New                          Delhi: Harman Publishing House.

  • If more than one publication by the same author in a single year is being cited, then a, b, c, and so on should be added after the year both in the text as well as in the list of references, e. g. Gupta 1982a, Gupta 1982b, and so on.
  • Abbreviated reference forms like ibid., op. cit. and supra are not acceptable.


Illustrations

All the illustrations must be original; no xerox/photocopies of line drawings will be accepted. The illustrations must be embedded in the text at the appropriate places in the Word file (*.doc) and along with that all the illustrations must be supplied separately as JPG/JPEG/TIFF files.

Units of Measurements

Only metric units should be used for all measurements: millimeter as (mm) for size, gram as (g) for weight, kilometer as (km). Do not add ‘s’ to these abbreviations to indicate the plural nor use a period mark (.) at the end.

Dates

All the dates with B. C. should be written as BC after a date, e. g. 200 BC; and A. D. written as AD should be applied before a date, e. g. AD 510. Do not use period marks (.) in between BC and AD.

Acknowledgements

In order to properly acknowledge the contributors to the articles, like a coin collector or a scholar or source of information/photos, etc. it is advisable not to acknowledge them in footnotes. They should be acknowledged at the end of the article but before the Footnotes/References under the sub-heading, Acknowledgements.

Submission of Manuscripts

All the manuscripts MUST be submitted as Microsoft Word file (*.doc) along with a hard copy of the article/book. The softcopy with all the illustrations must be send by e-mail to dr@reeshabooks.comor in a CD. If the computer file is heavier than 1 MB, you are required to send it on a CD.
